AQHA in the USA award a series of International Year End prizes to horses in each Affiliate – in our case horses owned by people who’s main address is in the UK. Horses can win these awards whether they are competing in the UK or Europe or even in the USA. They are based on AQHA points earned from 1st January to 31st December of each year in Open, Amateur and Youth classes (not Novice Amateur or Novice Youth). AQHA will send certificates, as well as trophies and buckles for certain overall International High Point Awards, the award is also listed on the horse’s AQHA records. The prizes are presented at the AQHA UK Annual Awards Evening which is held on the Saturday evening of the AQHA UK Spring Show each year.
Rookie Of The Year Award
AQHA present special Rookie of the Year Buckles to the top point earning Youth and Amateur, who’s main address is in the UK – you can earn AQHA points towards this award at any AQHA show irrespective of which country you are showing in. To qualify for this award, which runs from 1st January to 31st December each year, you must be competing in either Youth or Amateur for the very first time, once you compete in your first Youth or Amateur Class, any points earned will go towards the Rookie of the Year Award. Note, that competing in Novice Youth, Novice Amateur classes, Unaffiliated shows, WES shows, or the AQHA UK Championship classes does not count towards your Rookie points. The points have to be from just Youth or Amateur classes.
The Rookie of the Year Awards are presented at the AQHA UK Annual Awards Evening which is held on the Saturday evening of the AQHA UK Spring Show each year.
Open Halter High Point Plaque
The AQHA will present a plaque to the open high point halter horse each year. The points are calculated from the Open Classes only, and the award will be presented to either the Stallion, Mare or Gelding who has earned the most halter points over the year.
The Open Halter High Point Plaque is presented at the AQHA UK Annual Awards Evening which is held on the Saturday evening of the AQHA UK Spring Show each year.
Open Performance High Point Plaque
The AQHA will present a plaque to the open high point performance horse each year. The points are calculated from the Open Classes only, and the award will be presented to either the Stallion, Mare or Gelding who has earned the most performance points over the year.
The Open Performance High Point Plaque is presented at the AQHA UK Annual Awards Evening which is held on the Saturday evening of the AQHA UK Spring Show each year.
Other Awards
All other class high point awards are presented with an AQHA Certificate.
